High Ground - Never Tire of Doing Good

A MESSAGE FROM

MORGAN & KATIE

Lucas Team,

As we look to celebrate World Gratitude Day on September 21st, we wanted to share a reflection from Sister Rosalie Locati.

The seed of gratitude nestles in the deepest recesses of the heart. From our birth it begins to bud forth triggered by the love, attention and sustenance of parents, family, and friends. It begins to leaf out into a variety of words and actions as we grow and develop into unique people. From the modeling, teaching, mentoring and educating of those around us, gratitude takes its place within our conscious attitudes, ideas and responses to life’s experiences. It is both an emotional response and a choice. It crosses all boundaries of race, age, creed, vocation, gender and nation and yet it is emphasized by all great religious traditions.

Gratitude engenders other virtues such as generosity, humility, compassion, wisdom, joy, integrity and trust. The daily practice of gratitude keeps the heart open regardless of what comes our way. The disposition of mindfulness, of being aware of and thankful for our blessings, helps cultivate our virtues and significantly diminishes or can even eradicate any obstacles to gratitude we may face.

“At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person, each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lit the flame within us.” – Albert Schweitzer

“If you concentrate on finding whatever is good in every situation, you will discover that your life will suddenly be filled with gratitude, a feeling that nurtures the soul.” – Rabbi Harold Kushner

We are truly grateful for you all. Your commitment, your dedication and your heart are second to none and we could not be more thankful that you all are part of our Lucas Oil Family.

We would like to say thank you by giving you an extra day of PTO to spend with your family and friends or to simply take time to rest, for our regular, full-time team members. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Lucas Cattle Ranch

Lucas Cattle Ranch proudly stands as the home of the largest registered Simmental cattle herd in the United States. This thriving herd is a testament to our commitment to quality and excellence in cattle breeding and management. At the heart of this operation is Sugar C4, our prized Simmental cow, ranked as the #1 registered Simmental in the nation. Sugar C4 exemplifies the superior genetics and care that have made our herd a leader in the industry.

In addition to our cattle, Lucas Cattle Ranch is at the forefront of agricultural innovation. We operate a commercial research and development program in partnership with Purina, one of the most respected names in animal nutrition. Through this collaboration, we ensure that the latest advancements in feed and nutrition are integrated into our operations, contributing to the overall health and productivity of our cattle.

Our ranch operation spans an impressive 16,000 acres across three counties. With such an expansive property, we rely on a dedicated, hardworking team that is the backbone of Lucas Cattle Ranch. Their tireless efforts in managing the day-to-day operations ensure that our livestock and land are cared for with the utmost professionalism and attention to detail.

Forrest accepting NHRA award

We are excited to share Forrest Lucas has been awarded the prestigious NHRA Lifetime Achievement Award! This special recognition was presented during the Annual Sportsman Appreciation Dinner at the NHRA U.S. Nationals, held in Indianapolis at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park.

Forrest’s impact on both the automotive industry and motorsports is something we all take great pride in. For over 20 years, Lucas Oil has been a proud supporter of the NHRA, from sponsoring the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series to holding the title of “Official Oil of the NHRA.” We also sponsor major events like the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals and Winternationals, and of course, we hold the naming rights for Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park.

As NHRA President Glen Cromwell said, “Forrest Lucas truly embodies the spirit of drag racing.” His passion, commitment, and unwavering support have helped raise the profile of motorsports in ways we can all be proud of.

Beyond business, Forrest has made a lasting impact through his philanthropy and sports marketing leadership. His work with Lucas Oil Speedway, Lucas Oil Stadium, and various racing sponsorships shows his dedication to promoting sports on every level.

Please join us in congratulating Forrest on this remarkable achievement—another milestone for the Lucas Oil family!

The Blue and Green Goodness

As Fall approaches, many wonder, "What should I do with my gas-powered lawn equipment?" It's a topic we get asked about regularly and it can be addressed with the help of two Lucas products – Lucas Fuel Stabilizer and Safeguard® Ethanol Fuel Conditioner with Stabilizers.

It is crucial to treat the fuel with some type of stabilizer during the last few weeks of equipment use to save headaches in the Spring. Lucas Fuel Stabilizer is designed to prevent fuel from oxidizing during long periods of storage up to 12 months, so the fuel is in good condition when it is needed again. Lucas Safeguard® Ethanol Fuel Conditioner with Stabilizers is another great product for the Fall. Why should you use Safeguard if you don't use Ethanol fuel? The reality is that most of the fuel available at gas stations is blended with Ethanol, meaning that, in practice, we are all using fuel that contains some percentage of Ethanol. Even with Ethanol-free recreational fuel, we still recommend using a stabilizer to ensure smooth start-up in the Spring.

Both Safeguard® and Lucas Fuel Stabilizer are designed to help reduce fuel degradation that happens over time helping to prevent the gum and varnish that causes many issues in the fuel system especially on those smaller outdoor power equipment pieces. Using either of these products is very simple - you can treat the equipment itself or just treat the gas you use to fill these items. Both work in 2 and 4 cycle applications.

Treat rates are very generous and not much is needed to adequately treat the fuel.

  • Lucas Fuel Stabilizer 1 oz for every 2.5 gallons of gasoline
  • Safeguard® Ethanol Fuel Conditioner with Stabilizers 1 oz for every 5 gallons of gasoline

Both products will mix and work with either fuel type. Fuel stabilizer can keep fuel fresh for the longer 12–month storage time, whereas Safeguard® will help stabilize fuel for 6 to 8 months (during season). If you treat with Safeguard® in the Fall, your equipment will start trouble-free in the Spring! TREAT your fuel with some type of Stabilizer and you will thank yourself come Spring!

The moral to this story is TREAT your fuel with some type of Stabilizer and you will thank yourself come spring!

Atomic Habits Book

This month’s recommendation is Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones, by James Clear.

This book has been recommended by several people, and it is a good one. The book focuses on how small changes add up to big results – if you can get 1% better every day, you can become the person you want to be. Clear teaches readers to create the right system to build good habits, as well as how to break bad habits using what he calls “the habit loop.”

If you’d like to get a feel for the book, watch this 8-minute YouTube Video, where Clear walks through the four stages of habit formation.
