The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series was founded in 2005, and sanctions 38 events all over the country. Since its inception, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series has paid out millions in race purse and point fund money. Dirt Late Models feature aluminum bodies that give them the appearance of a stock car, but there is nothing ?stock? about these $50,000 racecars. The chassis is fully fabricated from Chromalloy steel tubing, and is powered by a 700-horsepower, all-alluminum high-performance engine. The engines are based on V-8 Chevrolet, Ford, and Mopar power plants and fueled by high-performance methanol.
