A new banner will fly over all five of the regions for I.M.C.A. Sunoco Modifieds, be-ginning this season.
Lucas Oil Products is the new title sponsor for the Western, Mountain, Central, North Central and Eastern regions, and will furnish $25,000 of the regional point funds to be paid out this fall.
In addition, Lucas Oil will become a presentation sponsor of the I.M.C.A. Speedway Motors Super Nationals held each September at the Boone, Iowa Speedway, and the Lucas Oil All-Star Invitational Race for Modifieds will be held during the Friday, Sept. 9 Super Nationals program.
“The development of a substantial program with Lucas Oil has been in the works for a while and we couldn’t be hap-pier that we got this program put together. Now the Official Oil of I.M.C.A., their product line and commitment to racing at the weekly level makes them a wonderful fit for our racers,” I.M.C.A. Marketing Director Kevin Yoder said. “We an-ticipate this relationship will lead to bigger and better things in the near future for our organization and our members.”
Approximately 5,000 drivers will compete in I.M.C.A.-sanctioned Modified events this season. They must display two Lucas Oil decals on their race car to be eligible for shares of regional point fund money.
Decals will be included in packets sent to drivers applying for current season membership, or mailed separately to those who have already received packets.
“As we have stressed from the beginning of the season, the placement of required decals is tremendously important,” Yoder noted. “On the original placement sheet for Modifieds, the Lucas Oil decal now goes at the top of the door on both sides of the race car.”
Founded by Forrest and Charlotte Lucas in 1989, Lucas Oil is headquartered in Corona, Calif., and makes a wide vari-ety of lubricants and additives for high performance use, as well as those for commercial, industrial and agricultural vehi-cles.
The company’s main manufacturing facility is located in Corydon, Ind. Lucas Oil has continually expanded its finan-cial support of motorsports events, from national series to individual drivers at local tracks.
“This sponsorship program is a natural choice, because of the number of drivers I.M.C.A. has across the country,” said Shaunna Allum, director of marketing for Lucas Oil. “Another plus is that I.M.C.A. is grassroots, a level that we’ve always had a very strong customer base in.”
Information about products available from Lucas Oil is available at the www.lucasoil.com website.
Dirt Works Race Cars had sponsored five of the seven Modified regions last year. The Walker, Mo., chassis builder will continue its association with I.M.C.A. in 2005 as title sponsor of the Ron Efkamp Memorial Race of Champions for Modifieds at Super Nationals.
“Dirt Works has been very instrumental in the transition from Dirt Works sponsored regions to Lucas Oil sponsored regions, and their support of our racers will now be focused elsewhere,” Yoder commented. “Dirt Works will remain a quality I.M.C.A. sponsor and the Race of Champions at Super Nationals will be better than ever in 2005.”
