GEICO Top Fuel team nominated for Full Throttle Hard Working Crew of the Year
POMONA, Calif. – Morgan Lucas and the GEICO/Lucas Oil Top Fuel dragster team are finalists for the NHRA Full Throttle Hard Working Crew of the Year award and fans can vote for the GEICO team to win the sought-after award.
"It's an awesome honor," Lucas said. "It's a chance to recognize the guys for the racecar they've given me all year long."
The GEICO crew is being nominated for the work they did in Lucas' first win of the season in Gainesville, Fla. At that race, along with the win, the team posted the track record, earned their second of four No. 1 qualifiers on the year and recorded the third quickest elapsed time in Top Fuel history.
"That was a special weekend for all of us on the team," Lucas said. "It really had a little bit of everything. It announced to the rest of the world that we were going to be a contender. We had awesome conditions at some points, then rain. It seems my wins can't come without a little rain and making my hard-working guys come back for an extra day of racing. They proved their mettle that weekend.
"The guys know it doesn't matter if it comes on a Sunday or Monday, a win is a win."

Video highlights featuring each of the four nominated Hard Working Crews performances in each category are included to help fans make their selections.
ESPN2’s NHRA broadcast team, led by race analyst Mike Dunn, determines the four finalists in each category. One "hardest working crew" from each category will be declared the best of the season and the winners, as determined by overall fan vote, will be honored in each of the four classes at the season-ending awards ceremony. Winners in Top Fuel and Funny Car will share $25,000 per crew, while the Pro Stock winners will earn $15,000 and the Pro Stock Motorcycle winners will receive $5,000.
