Bernstein still alive as rain puts temporary halt to NHRA event in Reading
Brandon Bernstein and the ProtectTheHarvest.com/MAVTV Top Fuel dragster reached the semifinals of the Uni-Select Auto Plus NHRA Nationals before rainfall called a halt to racing at Maple Grove Raceway.
In his second round run against Tony Schumacher, Bernstein ran another career best time of 3.736 seconds at 330.31 mph to take the win over Schumacher's 3.821 second lap at 309.70 mph.
That pass was the fifth fastest in NHRA history, and he'll face Antron Brown in the semifinals when racing resumes on Monday morning at 11 a.m. EDT.
Bernstein got to the second round with a victory over Larry Dixon to open the day, which was delayed for a couple of hours by rain.
In that race Bernstein ran a 3.758 second lap at 326.48 mph Dixon ran a 3.818 second lap at 316.30 mph.
