LUCAS OIL MODIFIED RACING SERIES MOURNS THE LOSS OF DAVID GERCHMAN
BY DAVE GRAYSON
The Lucas Oil Modified Racing Series, presented by 1 800 Loan Mart, is in a state of mourning this week. In recent days we had to bid a tearful farewell to one of our own: driver David Gerchman.
The Lord called David Gerchman home on September 14th, at the too young age of 51, following a lengthy and valiant fight against a major illness. He surrounded by his loved ones, at his Lake Havasu City-Arizona home, at the time of his passing.
To say that David Gerchman was extremely well liked by his friends and racing colleagues would actually be a major under statement. David was the type of man that, when you met him and shook his hand for the very first time, you knew instantly that you liked him. His outgoing sense of kindness frequently touched the lives of those who had the privilege of calling him friend. He was the type of man who never hesitated to offer someone a helping hand. His enthusiasm for life was demonstrated by his long time personal mantra: "life is what you make it."
Commenting on the loss of David Gerchman, Greg Scheidecker, General Manager of the Lucas Oil Modified Racing Series said: "without doubt, we have lost a good friend and my good thoughts goes out today to the entire Gerchman racing family. David Gerchman was the type of man who approached everything at a one hundred and ten percent level. He worked hard at running his business in Lake Havasu City, he spent evenings prepping his modified race car and, on the race track, he drove hard. That's the spirit of a true American racer."
In lieu of funeral services, the Gerchman family will be presenting a candle light and balloon release ceremony in celebration of David's life. All are welcome to join the family for this celebration this Saturday, September 22nd, at 8pm at David's home located at 3030 McCulloch Boulevard in Lake Havasu City-Arizona.
Our heart felt condolences goes out to the family and friends of David Gerchman during this truly sad time in their lives.
