Lucas Oil's Motocross Legend Brian Deegan earns two silver medals in Rally Car and SuperRally
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – Brian Deegan, the most decorated Freestyle Motocross rider in X-Games history, earned two silver medals in the Rally Car Race and SuperRally Race this past Saturday at the LA Coliseum, part of the 2010 X Games.
Deegan defeated a higher seed in every round of the Rally Car competition, where two cars go head to head in each round knocking out the competition until the two strongest drivers advance to the final race. Deegan beat some of the biggest names in North America rally, including his Fiesta teammate Ken Block in round one, Travis Pastrana in a quarterfinal match-up, and eventual bronze medal winner Andrew Comrie-Picard in the semifinals. "I was almost going to scratch Rally off of my list," Deegan said. "I'm glad I didn't because I definitely did better than I thought I would. I wanted to win so badly, but I am still getting used to this racing event."
The evening Super Rally race was a new event for the X Games this year and included four cars racing at one time. Deegan continued to dominate in this event, again winning the silver medal. Deegan, who now has 12 medals in X Games competitions, stated after the race, “While I wish they were gold, I am pretty stoked with the silver medals. The SuperRally was really in my element with the door to door racing. I have spent a lot of time perfecting my craft in my Ford truck in the Lucas Oil Off Road Series and that experience certainly paid off in the SuperRally. I worked hard for these medals,” said Deegan, who now has 12 X Game medals. He continued, “I built a full size replica of the course in my front yard at the ‘Metal Mulisha’ compound and I got a couple of full days of testing in the Fiesta. That experience was phenomenal and I learned a lot, which really helped today. This is great for ROCKSTAR and Ford and I hope I can do more rally racing and keep driving this Fiesta because it is a remarkable car.”
These medals bring new excitement to both Deegan and his NASCAR team as he recently announced that he will be racing in the NASCAR circuit. Deegan returns to stock car racing in August.
