Madison Regatta

Madison Regatta Incorporated has announced the signing of Lucas Oil Products as Title Sponsor for the 2010 Madison Regatta. Lucas Oil spokesperson Cathy Hale said, “Forrest and Charlotte Lucas are very excited about being involved in this outstanding event in their home state of Indiana. They have been very impressed with the volunteer effort by the citizens of the Madison area, who have supported their wonderful community celebration and kept it successful for 60 years.”

Madison Mayor Tim Armstrong worked out the details of the 2010 agreement directly with Lucas Oil CEO Forrest Lucas. The Lucas Oil Madison Regatta, appropriately will conclude on the July 4th along the banks of the Ohio River in the historic town of Madison Indiana. The arrangement also includes an attractive Lucas Oil product sponsorship for the H1 unlimited hydroplane series.

Madison Regatta This will be the 60th anniversary of the Madison Regatta featuring the fastest race boats in the world. The Lucas Oil Indiana Governor’s Cup Regatta along with a weeklong festival attracts upwards of 50,000 to 60,000 spectators and is the longest running stop on the H1 Unlimited Hydroplane schedule. Madison will also serve as the inaugural race site for the 2010 H1 Unlimited racing season. Headlining the Unlimited fleet this year will be the reigning 2009 H1 Unlimited National Hydroplane Champion Oh Boy! O’berto, Miss Madison racing team also based in Madison Indiana. The Oh Boy! O’berto will again be sporting U1 on their hull designating them as national champions for the second consecutive year.

Madison Regatta Additional events include the Main Street Parade, Fantastic Air Show Displays, a Patriotic 4th of July Fireworks Extravaganza sponsored by the American Legion Post No.9, four nights of Musical Entertainment, Festive Foods and Interactive Exhibits, And Much More.

Race fans attending this year’s event will see Unlimited hydroplanes racing deck-to-deck at top speeds of 200-mph on Regatta’s 2 1/2 mile Bill Cantrell Memorial Race Course. The event will culminate in the presentation of the Lucas Oil Indiana Governor’s Cup trophy to the race winner on Sunday afternoon, July 4th. The race dates for the Madison race are set for July 2-4, 2010.
