Kaitlyn McGee's Junior Comp Championship Awards Speech
Kaitlyn's two Awards were: 15-17 Junior Dragster "Race of Champions" Winner, 2009 Junior Comp Champion
Good evening ladies and gentlemen,
I started Jr. Drag racing when I was 8-years-old and was lucky enough to have my dad as my mentor through it all. His dedication, support and hard work are what make him the best crew chief and best father that I could ever ask for. He has always been willing to work late into the night just to make sure that my dragsters are perfect for me on race day, and he’s always thinking of me first. I could not thank him enough for that.
Next year will be my last year racing my Jr. Dragster and I’m going to miss my mom being my cheerleader and weather girl at every race. But luckily, I will continue racing my Jr. Comp Dragster so my cheerleader will still be with me for many years to come. Mom, thank you for always cheering me up after I have a bad day out at the track and for teaching me that it is very important to be a good sport no matter what.
I would like to thank my wonderful sponsors next. Lucas Oil, thank you for allowing me to be the first Lucas Oil Jr. Comp Driver. I am very honored to represent you. Thank you to the entire Lucas Oil Racing Family but especially Tom Bogner and family for supporting me at all of the events and for being genuine people who I look forward to seeing at every race. Thank you to Visions Racecars for building me the first Visions Jr. Comp Dragster and for building my Jr. Dragster as well. Both cars have allowed me to perform to my best ability on race day. And lastly, thank you to McGee Cams for supplying me with their championship winning Jr. Dragster engines and products.
I’d also like to thank my grandparents for all of their continuous support and words of wisdom. As well, thank you Gunnar Boelman for always supporting me and calming me down since running two dragsters can be quite stressful. Also, I would like to thank all of the track personal at every track I have raced at this year, for putting on wonderful programs and allowing me to come out and race and have fun with them every weekend. Finally, congratulations to all of the 2009 champions and keep up the good work next year.
On another note, I would like to give a special thanks to a man who has done so much for the Jr. Comp class. He is always thinking of new ways to grow the sport. With that being said, I would like to present this award to Bud Fizone of Visions Racecars as a thank you from all of the Jr. Comp drivers for sponsoring the Junior Comp Nationals. We couldn’t have done it without you :-)
