Scott Bloomquist to Be Crowned Series Champion, John Blankenship Crowned Quarter Master Rookie of the Year at Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Banquet
Scott BloomquistCORONA, CA (November 20, 2009) - The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will crown Scott Bloomquist as the 2009 series champion and John Blankenship as the Quarter Master Rookie of the Year on the series for 2009. The series year end awards banquet will take place this weekend at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana on Saturday night November 21st. Along with the series champion and series rookie of the year the top 13 drivers in the series points standings will be honored and receive cash and contingency awards.
Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN won his first Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Championship with consistency. Scott won one series event in 2009 winning the final event at Rome Speedway in Rome, GA and registered 22 top five finishes and 30 top ten finishes in 40 series events in 2009. Scott will collect a series record $75,000 for winning the 2009 series championship.
John Blankenship of Williamson, WV will be crowned the 2009 Quarter Master Rookie of the Year at the series banquet and will receive $10,000 for winning the rookie of the year. John recorded 5 top ten finishes and 1 top five finish on the series in 2009. John's best finish came in July at Utica-Rome Speedway in Vernon, NY where he finished 3rd.
The series will also honor and distribute cash and product awards to the top 13 drivers in the series final point's standings. Drivers finishing second through thirteenth in the final series points standings include: Jimmy Owens, Earl Pearson Jr., Dale McDowell, Don O'Neal, Ray Cook, Brad Neat, Steve Casebolt, Eric Jacobsen, John Blankenship, Dan Schlieper, Freddy Smith and Michael Walker.
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series was founded in 2005 and has seen a steady growth in the five years of its existence to become the premier dirt late model touring series in the country.
