Lucas Oil Top Alcohol Dragster Driver Johnny Ahten Falls In The Second Round
LAS VEGAS NEVADA (Monday, November 2, 2009) - Ahten racing again qualified in the top half of a very tough field. With twenty five dragsters from all over the country in attendance just getting into the field of sixteen would be an accomplishment.
With a 5.38, Johnny and team were able to secure the #8 position heading into eliminations on Sunday. That paired Johnny with a very tough Joey Severance. Severance was away first with a very respectable .012 reaction time but the Lucas Oil-Island Renovations A/Fueler was able to drive around him with an improved 5.30 at 260.97 mph. to Severance’s 5.35. The second round paired Johnny with the stunning Monroe Guest and his number one qualifying A/fueler. This time Johnny had the advantage off the line and was able to stay out in front until around the 330 foot cone. Ahten’s ride dropped two cylinders mid track allowing Monroe to thunder past for the win.
AHTEN RACING’S next event will be the Finals at Pomona.
