Todd Races to 11th Place Finish in NHRA POWERade Standings
The Lucas Oil Fuel Treatment team with Top Fuel racer, J.R. Todd at the helm was eliminated in the first round of competition by European Drag Racing champion, Urs Erbacher at the 44th annual Auto Club NHRA Finals at Pomona Raceway.
Todd left the starting line first with a great reaction time (.064 - .083) and held the lead until Todd had to back-pedal due to tire shake around the mid-track area and found himself in arrears when he reached the finish line to Erbacher.
The Lucas Oil driver produced a time of 4.041 seconds, 309.77 mph to his opponent’s quicker time of 3.887 seconds, 316.67 mph.
In qualifying, Todd held the No. 1 spot for three sessions only to end up qualifying in the No. 4 spot with his time of 3.848 seconds along with a speed of 301.87 mph.
J.R. Todd will finish the year No. 11 in the NHRA POWERade Top Fuel points standings with 983 markers with one victory to his team’s credit in Dallas back in late September.
Up next for Todd will be the start of the 2009 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series returning to Pomona on February 5 – 8 for the 49th annual running of the Kragen O’Reilly NHRA Winternationals.
