Morgan Lucas concluded his 2008 NHRA POWERade Top Fuel season with a first round loss to Doug Herbert at the 44th annual Auto Club NHRA Finals at the Auto Club Raceway at Pomona. The Lucas Oil Stabilizer team ran a time of 3.986 seconds, 280.08 mph to Herbert’s winning pass of 3.928 seconds, 298.93 mph.
Lucas will finish the season in the No. 12 position in the NHRA POWERade Top Fuel points standings with 966.
The Brownsburg, Ind., resident qualified his Lucas Oil Stabilizer dragster in the No. 7 position with a time of 3.855 seconds, 306.46 mph.
In just 12-weeks, the NHRA will change its professional title-rights sponsor’s name from POWERade to the Full Throttle series, which will resume for the start of the 2009 season beginning here in Pomona for the 49th annual Kragen O’Reilly NHRA Winternationals on February 5 – 8.
