Lucas Oil Claims Victory in Europe

The Lucas Oil/H-Engineering Team started the 2004 season with a victory during the season-opener of the Euroboss Championship Series contested at Silverstone April 12. The Euroboss Championship Series is recognized in the UK and Europe as one of the most prestigious championships for Formula One and Indy cars.

Tony Hansford, driver of the Lucas Oil Formula One Arrows A11b, returned to Silverstone one year after a devastating qualifying crash to set the fastest lap time of the event. During the morning warm-up session, Hansford was not satisfied with the setup of the car and the team made some minor adjustments. Back on the track with the changes, Hansford was able to improve his lap time by three seconds to earn the low qualifier position.

After starting from the pole position, Hansford made one of his customary quick starts and passed three cars on the run to the first corner. Hansford was able to hold off the competition all the way to the checkered flag en route to securing his first victory in his new Lucas Oil Arrows A11b.

When being interviewed by Sky Sports, Hansford said this was a great way to start the season for the Lucas Oil/H-Engineering Racing Team. He also extended his appreciation to his sponsors for their support and felt that with continued development there is still more speed in the Lucas Oil Formula One Arrows A11b.
