Charlie Louvin newest spokesperson for Lucas Oil Products
Grand Ole Opry star Charlie Louvin whose accolades include two 2004 Grammys can now add the title of national country music spokesperson for Lucas Oil Products to his list of honors.
"I am pleased to join the Lucas Oil family," said Louvin following his recent appearance in Branson, Mo., for the Gene Williams Television Show. "My friend Gene Williams, who is a Lucas Oil Products distributor, and the star of the Lucas Oil sponsored Gene Williams Country Television Show, introduced me to the fine line of products and the companys founder, Forrest Lucas. The Lucas success story has been built upon hard work, an unparalleled line of premium products and an unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction. I will do my best to tell the Lucas Oil success story."
"Charlie Louvin will have a positive impact on the Lucas company. His impact on country music has been great as evidenced by the 2004 wins for his album Livin, Lovin, Losin - Songs Of The Louvin Brothers which won Best Country Album and Best Country Collaboration With Vocals for the song How's The World Treating You from the album. He is a perfect choice for spokesperson and personal appearances for Lucas Oil Products," said Forrest Lucas, who along with his wife Charlotte founded the company in 1989 with the philosophy of producing only the best line of lubricants and additives available anywhere.
Steadfastly adhering to this corporate objective and through innovative product research and development, Lucas has established itself as a top selling additive line in the American truck stop industry, has one of the fastest growing additive lines in the consumer automotive industry, produces a heavy duty line of products for the industrial and agricultural markets and a line of high performance engine oils and gear oils that are second-to-none in the racing industry.
In addition to sponsorships with NASCAR, NHRA, IHRA, USAR and ATPA, Lucas Oil sponsors the Gene Williams Country Television Show televised to more than 15 million homes each week. Taped live in Branson, the live entertainment capital of the world, the show is a recipient of a Telly Award, an Emmy equivalent. The show includes celebrity interviews and performances with the Country Junction Boys with Joey Riley and Gary Myers.
"Through their success on radio and as live performers, the Louvin Brothers (Charlie and Ira) had a great impact on American music. Through the late Gram Parsons, the Louvin Brothers became known to a diverse set of listeners. The name Louvin Brothers is linked to some of the most memorable vocals on record, and their place in the history of American music is assured. Following Iras death in 1965, Charlie kept on recording numerous hits. He continues to create fresh recordings which remain true to the country music tradition," said Williams.
From Alabama, the Louvin Brothers first paying job was providing background music for a county fair's merry-go-round. Their singing was based on the gospel harmonies the brothers had learned in their church choir and even though they had recording contracts with MGM and Capitol, success and acceptance in the world of country music was hard won. They became members of the Grand Ole Opry in 1955. More then 20 entries on Billboards country charts followed.
Charlie is one of the few who can boast that Elvis Presley was an opening act for the headlining Louvins. After his brothers death, Charlie continued to record numerous hits - selling even more as a solo artist than he had with his brother. He continues to keep the flame of real country music burning every Friday and Saturday night on Nashville's Grand Ole Opry, of which he has been a member for over 49 years. He also holds membership in the Country Music Hall of Fame and Country Music Songwriter Hall of Fame.
