Jason Patison, along with the Speed Wong Racing Team, earned a top ten finish for the America’s Baby Cancer Foundation during the opening night event at Toyota Speedway, formally Irwindale Speedway.  While it wasn’t quite where he had hoped to finish, it was still a fun and successful night as the car came home in one piece and a great cause was promoted.

It was a close field in qualifying, Patison posted a lap time of 18.36 seconds, one tenth of a second off the leader and good enough to start seventh in the 27 car field.   Starting the race fourth row inside, Patison hoped to navigate the bottom of the track to make up ground on the leaders.  Unfortunately the car was set a little too tight, and he was unable to run down low and make the passes he is becoming known for.  In the end Patison brought his Lucas Oil, Speed Wong entry home in seventh place.

After the races he celebrated his top ten finish in the pits with Gordon Stewart and the family of Eduardo Rodriguez Jr. whose  picture graced the hood of Patison’s car during the event.  Unfortunately, Eduardo lost his battle with cancer, but his memory is still strong by those who knew and love him.

Jason Patison’s next race is this coming weekend, March 29th up in Roseville, California.  He will be racing the first of 13 NASCAR Camping World West races.  With a new team and a new crew Chief in Jason Fensler, Patison has high hopes for a strong finish to start off the season.  The event will be broadcast live on HD Net and re-aired later on SPEED, check your local listing for exact times, and visit www.jasonpatison.com for more news and updates.
