The record now stands at 8.752 seconds at 148 MPH, set by the Bentz Racing Team from Littleton, Colorado. The previous best run before the event was a 9.11 second run by the Bentz Team at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, Colorado.

 | Lucas Oil Products Makes Its Indy 500 Debut with Sam Schmidt Motorsports
Lucas Oil Products recently announced they have formed a partnership with Sam Schmidt Motorsports as the primary sponsor of the IndyCar driven by Richie Hearn in the 88th running of the Indianapolis 500 held Sunday, May 30 and slated to air live on ABC at noon. Additionally, team owner Sam Schmidt recently announced he has secured a one race agreement to lease Roger Penskes third car.
A native of Glendale, Calif., Hearn has been involved with motorsports since a very young age and will return to the Indy Racing League for the first time since earning the pole position in Chicago last season. Hearns best performances at the Indianapolis 500 were in 1996 when he qualified 15th and finished third and in 2002 he qualified 22nd and finished sixth. Both times he was driving for Sam Schmidt Motorsports. To his credit, Hearn has been successful in the International Karting Federation, SCCA, PPG CART and the Indy Racing League.
