Ahten racing again qualified in the top half of a very tough field. With 25 dragsters from all over the country in attendance just getting into the field of 16 would be an accomplishment. With a 5.38, Johnny and team were able to secure the #8 position heading into eliminations on Sunday.

He beat points leader Mike Edwards in the second round on a whole-shot and stopped him from claiming the 2009 NHRA Full Throttle Pro Stock Championship. Edwards will have to wait until Pomona to be crowned the champion in Pro Stock.
