 | POWRi Lucas Oil National Midgets schedule 30-event season starts in Texas March 16-17
The Midget Stampede at the ¼-mile track located near Fort Worth has a purse exceeding $40,000 with Friday’s feature paying $3,000 to win and $300 to start and Saturday’s $5,000 to win and $500 to start. $100 in tow money will be paid each night for the entrants not making the feature.
This will be the eighth season for POWRi National Midgets, co-founded by Kenny Brown and Jim Siner.
“We’re pretty excited to take the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series to Cowtown and Texas and debut our West series with it,” Brown said. “We’re spreading out from our Midwestern roots, but we’re equally proud to be returning to our traditional tracks that have been our partners in building POWRi.”

 | Racing Legend, Tony Scarlata Joins Performance Boat Magazine Evaulation Team
Tony Scarlata, the World Champion drag and circle boat racer, will join the Performance Boats test team when it convenes in Lake Havasu City, AZ, for its annual Performance Evaluations this spring.
Scarlata, 44, of Burbank, CA, currently drives the Lucas Oil Top Alcohol Flatbottom, his third year on that team. He earned back-to-back World Champions as their driver.
"I am excited as hell to be on the PB evaluation team," Scarlata said. "I hope to bring an entirely different demographic to the magazine and website."

Officials of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series are pleased to announce that the series will offer drivers over 3.2 million dollars in cash and contingencies in 2012. The amount is a new record for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. In 2011, the series averaged an industry high of 49 cars per event. Record-breaking crowds watched many of the most exciting races of the year. The 2012 series schedule includes 46 events in 19 different states at some of the top racing facilities in the country.

New GEICO/Lucas Oil Top Fuel dragster crew chief Aaron Brooks went into this week's testing session at Palm Beach International Raceway with some trepidation, but left with a great deal of enthusiasm.
"The last three years, I've started each season with a new team," Brooks said. "It can take a long time to get everybody on the same page. These guys on the GEICO team have been together a while, and it showed. Everyone was flawless. "I didn't realize just how well we were doing," Brooks said. "The second or third day we ran a 3.80 and Morgan came back to the pit with a big smile and said, 'Man I've never gone that quick before.'
